Friday Tasty Links: January 11, 2014

Friday Tasty Links are back!  On this week’s edition: a glossary for everything related to schmaltz, a food blogging sitcom (!?), a gut warming recipe, and the new kid on the Instagram block.

For a few months now we’ve been hearing how schmaltz – rendered chicken fat infused with onion flavor – will be the new ‘it’ ingredient.  I feel validated for storing chicken skins on my freezer to use in the future.

  • ABC Family Picks Up “Young and Hungry” (Deadline)

ABC Family recently greenlit “Young and Hungry”, a sitcom where “a wealthy young tech entrepreneur, meets a feisty young food blogger, looking to be his personal chef”.   I’m sure that by the second episode his food will go cold while she styles the food and takes pictures.  Spoiler alert? Hijinks ensue and they will fall in love.

  • Gumbo Ya Ya with Crabmeat (GF360˚)

The most gut warming, sinus clearing soup offering on this site.  I really hope the winter temperatures crawl back to ‘normal’ for everyone in the Northern Hemisphere soon.

  • Saborea Puerto Rico goes to Instagram (Instagram)

The organizers of Saborea Puerto Rico, the island’s premier culinary event, finally opened their Instagram profile.  I look forward to all the pictures of tasty bites and stunning scenery.
