It’s time for Friday tasty links! Starting today, I will be pointing you out to news, essays, infographs, slide shows, and recipes that caught my eye during the week. If you come across any interesting food news to be shared during the week, tweet @GreatFood360 or post to the blog Facebook page.

  • 10 Delicious Irish Products You Should Get to Know (Serious Eats)

Although my experience with Irish foods is limited to Dubliner cheese, stout beers, and Irish coffee, this list is a must-see for anyone who wants to branch out of the corned beef/potatoes/food coloring loaded fare. Maybe the Irish need to see the Puerto Rican twist on corned beef hash with shoestring fries mixed in.

Wine descriptions get translated for Chinese audiences beyond language. I need to find out what is Chiuchow master stock and why Bordeaux wines might evoke that essence.

  • French Fridays with Dorie: Orange-Scented Lentil Soup (FFwD)

The fearless Doristas tackle a simple but delicious lentil soup flavored with ginger, cloves, and orange peel. Looks like a perfect weeknight/next-day lunch recipe.

F&W Magazine continue updating their “Best of” lists and are taking everyone’s inputs for the People’s Best New Chef Category. The signature dishes presented by each chef sound incredible, if a little daunting to try to replicate at home. You already know who I voted for in the Gulf Coast category!

I had high hopes for this show and agree with at least 85% of Carey Polis analysis on why it failed to connect with people. I watched the pilot and did not feel compelled to go back for the rest of the show. Fame/time/fatherhood have really mellowed out Anthony Bourdain. We will always have the early No Reservations seasons.

  • Tri-Diet: Triathlon Nutrition for Peak Performance (TriFuel)

On Sunday, around 1,500 athletes will participate in Puerto Rico’s 70.3 Ironman challenge. I’m not one of them. I am training for the Puerto Rico Marathon and Half Marathon that will take place on May 5, but still need to look into proper pre-race nutrition. Mmmh… carbs…
